+ I'm new to Yoga...

If you’re new to yoga, welcome! Here are some tips to make a smooth transition into your yoga practice:

  • Arrive 10 minutes early to your first class
  • Let me know if you have any injuries
  • Try not to eat for 2 hours before class (light snacks if you must)
  • Don't forget to come with a smile, an open mind and a sense of adventure!

Starting a yoga practice or anything new can be a little intimidating for many of us - the important thing to keep in mind is that yoga is for every body, at any age, including those of us who think we are inflexible, out of shape or not 'strong' enough.

If you're not sure where to begin or which classes to take, get in touch and I will help you start your yoga practice :)

+ I can't touch my toes though...

I believe that Yoga is for every body and that means you and your body. You don’t need to be flexible or be in a certain 'shape', or have the 'right' clothes. All you need to do is show up with an open mind and do your best. Commit to a regular practise and watch yourself transform.

+ What to bring?

Just yourself & a smile is enough :) As your practice develops, you might want to buy your own yoga mat. Until then, quality mats are provided at all classes.
Bring a towel and water bottle - hydrate well before and after the class, especially if you are taking the hot yoga classes.

+ What to wear?

To enjoy yoga, you don’t need to have any fancy yoga gear. Just wear something comfortable that you can move around easily in.

+ How often should I pratice Yoga?

The more often you practice the better you’ll feel and the more benefits you’ll experience. I recommend that you set a goal you can realistically keep. Consistency is the key — it’s much better to attend one class per week without fail than to attend four classes one week, none for the next two weeks, one the next week, etc.

+ What if I can’t do a pose?

Variations, options / modification are always offered. Your pose won't look like your neighbour's, simply because you don't look like your neighbour. I encourage you to find the edge of your comfort zone, to get to know what feels right for you and your body and simply enjoy moving on your mat. This is YOUR body, and it is YOUR practise - honour your body and do what is best for YOU

+ I can’t sit still for two minutes and I really am not flexible...

You don't need to be flexible to start practising Yoga. Just come and join one of the classes and try your best, that is all we can do.

+ OK, I am ready to take my first class - which class shall I come to?

Depending on your physical condition, your health, and your motivation for practicing...Vinyasa is an active style of yoga where the breath links one movement to the next whereas Yin Yoga is a slower-paced class designed for you to go deeper into your body and into a quieter, meditative state. Get in touch and I will help guide you to the right class for you.
